Jeanne Barnard joined the Holly Creek team as our new Executive Director at the end of February 2018. We’ve been excited to get to know her – and we wanted you to meet her as well!
Holly Creek: What do you like about your new job at Holly Creek?
Jeanne Barnard: The environments at both Holly Creek and Christian Living Communities are such that you can’t help but feel enriched. I feel very blessed to be part of such a great team of staff who are so highly focused on enriching the lives of our residents and their families.
HC: How did you get into senior living as a career?
Jeanne: Back in the late 1980’s I had the pleasure of meeting a great British Professor who was starting a new Master’s program in the study of Aging and Gerontology at a nearby university. I was intrigued by her enthusiasm to change the way seniors age in our country, so I scheduled a meeting with her to learn more about the new program. After that meeting, I was convinced that a career in this field was definitely for me. I enrolled in her program, and have never looked back.
HC: How do you help struggling team members?
Jeanne: By providing support, trust, and helping create a vision that helps others be the best they can be. It’s important to always see the glass half-full and to help others understand their significant contribution as it relates to the overall success of the residents and our community.
HC: What makes Holly Creek a special place?
Jeanne: The genuine warmth and love in an environment that is full of enrichment for all.
HC: Tell us how you’ve approached change.
Jeanne: I have always found change to be very beneficial. It is full of opportunity, and to me, that’s what life is all about.
HC: What’s the funniest thing that ever happened at a senior living community you worked with?
Jeanne: Ohhhh, there have been many funny things … but working with a group of residents to put together a STOMP performance for a talent show is definitely one that comes to mind. I crack up laughing every time I think of those practice sessions. HILARIOUS!!!
HC: What’s your favorite place to be, outside of Colorado?
Jeanne: My favorite place to be is enjoying experiences in other countries. I love geography and photography, and am always intrigued by the differences in the many cultures in our world.
